Maya Culture
This five-night package will definitely give you some unique Maya culture coupled with jungle nature at its best. Your Maya cooking experience will teach you how to prepare traditional Maya foods with hands-on cooking. Toast plantain leaves, hand grind corn and chocolate, and learn the secrets of cooking over the traditional open-flame Maya fire hearth. Barton Creek Cave is a stunning Maya ceremonial cave that you will explore by canoe, meandering along a river flowing through the beautiful cathedral-like chambers. Xunantunich (pronounced “shoo-NAN-too-NICH”), meaning “Stone Maiden” in Mayan, is a site from the Classic Period. You can ask to work the hand-cranked ferry yourself as you ride across the Mopan River toward the site. One of the oldest Maya sites in Belize, Cahal Pech (“Place of Ticks”), was once a robust city with a population of 10,000 to 15,000 people. During its heyday between 1,200 BC and 900 AD, Cahal Peck was one of the most important centers in the Belize River Valley region. Caracol (Spanish for “snail”) is Belize’s largest known Maya site, with the temple “Caana” rising 42 meters above the plaza level. Over 70 formal tombs have been excavated. Big Rock Falls is an impressive 60-foot waterfall boasting two large, deep emerald pools filled with spring water perfect for swimming or, for the more adventurous, cliff jumping. While you are not off touring, you can relax and enjoy the pristine grounds of Table Rock Jungle Lodge, where hiking, canoeing, tubing, and swimming in the Macal River or swimming pool are all available – not to mention their food is absolutely divine.

In addition to enjoying all things lobster while touring the island with your golf cart, you’ll have an evening to sail away on a fun sunset cruise, a morning snorkel to enjoy at Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley, and a fabulous beach BBQ trip with more snorkeling and a beach BBQ lunch with lobster, rum punch, and more. If you care to be more active, we can book any additional excursions you desire, such as scuba diving, more snorkeling, or fishing, and add these tours to the price below.
